Macau’s climate is subtropical and the weather is very hot and humid for half the year.
- January and February are rainy and cool (sometimes below 10 Degree).
- March to April is humid and misty.
- May to September is hot and humid (up to 35 Degree) with frequent heavy rainfall and thunderstorms. Typhoons and floods occur occasionally.
- October to December is normally sunny and dry, sometimes cool (around 15 Degree)
Typhoons are storms that are graded similarly to hurricanes, T1 being mild and T10 severe. Anything graded T8 or above is serious and precautions are taken, including store closures. Companies in Macau usually have their own policy and procedure regarding work during the typhoon period.
(When the local observatory hoists typhoon signal no.8 (T8), Sea and Air transport is suspended. You may visit the meteorological service for more information: www.smg.gov.mo)
Bright blue skies occur especially in the months of May and October. Macau also experiences frequent hazy days as a result of weather conditions, traffic pollution, persistent construction, and other factors. Air Quality is monitored and reported daily.
